The Departure Lounge • Re: Economy Headphones
Yes, you can use your own headphones and all seats on VS aircraft have the standard headphone socket.

The Departure Lounge • Help with weird question re companion ticket!
I used a Gold companion reward to book a return UC flight with an I-class ticket for no miles and just taxes.

My companion can no longer make the outbound flight and needs to fly out a day later. there is a PE miles reward I can book for this. The problem is the return.

If they don't use the outbound of the companion flight will it automatically cancel the return flight or can they still use the return element independently?

It's all on one reference number and eticket so guessing it's a no. If so, what are the chances I could call Virgin, cancel the companion ticket (which I understand I can do for a £30 admin fee and get the taxes back) and then rebook a new one-way 'g' for the return (i.e. will me cancelling it put the 'g' back in the pool, because currently there is no 'g' availability for the return flight).

The Departure Lounge • Re: LHR-LAX . Sept 18 - Good time to book?
This website is your friend:

https://www.hopper.com/

It doesn't do open jaw yet, but does offer suggestions based on historical patterns on fares. I saved £100 on an internal US flight, thanks to Hopper!

The Departure Lounge • Best hotel for Heathrow Terminal 3
It depends on how many pounds you are willing to spend.

Our favourite was the Sofitel Heathrow but, on our last trip, we used The Ostrich in Slough.

The Ostrich, High St, Colnbrook, Slough SL3 0JZ
01753 682628

A great pub, really good food in the evening, and an excellent breakfast.

Downside; you need to get there, arrange onward transportation to T3 (£15 by booked Taxi), and you will have to carry your luggage up, and down, a fairly tight staircase to get to the accommodation.

It's a 12th Century coaching inn, it's haunted and it's excellent value for money.

We will be staying there, in the future.

NV and Loz

The Departure Lounge • Economy Headphones
Just checking can you use your own headphones in the economy entertainment system I know that in Upper you can. Just want to make sure it’s not a two pin jack only.

Ibis Styles is pretty perfect for T3. Not fancy, but spotless and a free continental breakfast included.

I'm overnighting at LHR for the first time in April and chose this hotel due the reviews, price(£40!) and free easy access to T3, looking forward to it.

The Departure Lounge • Re: Help with weird question re companion ticket!
Their return flight will be cancelled once they no show for the original out bound.

You cancelling a reward flight does not automatically mean it goes back into the system for anyone to try and book.
